I am now going over the list of outfits that I am planning on getting for my dolls.

I am having second thoughts about getting the outfits I mention below since they are dark and might potentially stain the dolls. I live in the Houston area which is extremely humid and I am afraid that even if I don't take the dolls out, the dye might still transfer onto the dolls. I am telling you Houston is very very humid. Right now, in the middle of the winter, we are having some pretty humid days.

    Possible ofending outfits:

    1) Marisol's Jazz outfit - it looks like the pants are velvet and they are purple. I read somewhere that dark velvet transfers over to vinyl when it's humid or something like that. I might avoid velvet all together.

    2) Marisol's tap dance outfit - the leotard and tights are black. What is the leotard made of? I hope it's not velvet.

    3) Winter Magic Outfit - I already heard about the staining on this one. I am hoping that AG will exchange it for a different outfit when I tell them about the staining that others have had. I hope they don't give me a hassle since my doll isn't stained yet.

    4) Molly's Meet outfit - it's dark blue. Has anybody had a problem with this outfit? What is it made of?

    5) Kit's pajamas - they are dark blue but it looks like they are satin. Would that ever transfer to a doll?

I am starting to get paranoid about staining. I am very careful not to get my dolls wet and I take very good care of them and their outfits but Houston is so humid. You sweat so much over here and that sweat might transfer to the doll unintentionally. Oh boy! I am in for a long night of thinking.

It seems to me as long as you wash the clothes before putting them on the doll and don?t leave it on too long it will be fine. Maybe we should write to AG and see what they think about this, ask them what materials they are using that could be staining and if they know what to do about getting rid of stains from the dolls.

Okay, I am not taking any chances so I called AG and told them about the staining regarding the Winter Magic outfit. After a little hassle, the lady finally agreed to send me a return label to return the winter magic outfit back to them. In exchange I ended up getting the keyboard which cost the same as the winter magic outfit did when my husband purchased it. So I didn't end up paying anything to get the keyboard since I am returning the winter magic outfit.

I am glad that that is over. But I still have concerns about the other outfits that I mentioned before. Should I get them or not?

I have had only one stain issue and it was with Travelling Kit. The shoes did the staining and even then it didn't do it to others dolls that have worn the same shoes.

I have not had problems with any of the velvets.

Could it be that some of the dolls are more susaptible tot he stains while others are not?

Maybe it is only the fair skined girls with Freckles who have this problem! LMAO!

The Winter Magic outfit stains?? I love this outfit. and I don't want to send it back. I also ordered the Silver Bells set and Rosy Red set for Bitty Baby. Should I return them?

The beautiful Blooms set is turquoise, but its not velvet. Has anyone heard anything about that outfit?

    Thank you.

I have had many of my dolls stain with dark colored clothes....old dolls, some hard plastic and some vinyl. The only advice I would give anyone is not to leave the clothes on for to long, when you are done photographing or displaying take the out fit off. When your doll is going to be left in the same clothes for a long period of time make sure that the clothes are light colored or will not stain...or even store her without clothes....I have not been succesful in removing any of these stains...Better to be overly cautious than sorry

Okay, I already convinced myself that I will still get Marisol's tap dance and jazz outfit. I guess if somebody finds out that the clothes stain then I will return it or exchange it for something else. I really want to get the entire Marisol collection. I don't have any AG limited edition dolls and I really like Marisol especially since she's hispanic like me

I think I will also get Kit's pajamas. I can't get Kit without getting her pajamas.

I also really want Molly's meet outfit and Kit's tree house outfit. Both are dark but I will try to be extra careful with them and check often for any staining. I might even wash them as soon as I get them.

So I already convinced myself to just go ahead and get the stuff unless somebody knows something about these outfits that I don't know or has a very bad review of them.

I am already returning the winter magic outfit which I love. But I love my dear Ashley more so I can't take any chances.

One more thing I might add if you have a travelling doll I would certainly have a light colored outfit for her to travel in..or no outfit..if she is in a hot truck for a long period of time or in a postoffice warehouse where it is hot.....besides she will be much more comfortable in her nightgown.....

So is the verdict here, if you are gonna put them in clothing that could stain...ie. dark clothes or velvet, to wash it first. What about things like Kit's Christmas dress...with that bright white collar and red dress...how do you wash it without it bleeding to the collar? I think my mom used to tell me salt in your water would keep it from bleeding? Anyone heard that one? I too am concerned about that jazz outfit and those black tights...but I will give them a good washing.

I agree not to leave them in the outfits for weeks on end is probably a good rule of thumb. But I have had a doll's vinyl stained with a blue dye, that I removed successfully with the Twin Pines removezit product. It took three days, but it is now gone. I don't know that it will get every single stain off, as I have not had to use it on that many, especially of the bleeding colors sort, but it worked on that one and I certainly would give it a go before I hung my hat up and said a doll was stained forever!
